Introduction to PlantTandemDups

Tandem gene duplication is an important mechanism in genome evolution, which brings the amplification of gene families and enhance environmental adaptation of organism. Until now, more than 300 genome sequences are released and available in community. But comprehensive database platforms for studying tandem gene duplication within plant kingdom are still lacking. Here, we developed an integrated database, PlantTandemDups, for tandem gene duplication in plant genomes, which includes a database with 720,991 tandemly duplicated genes distributed in 301,515 tandem gene arrays from 192 plant genomes, and a web service, PTGDweb, for identifying tandemly duplicated genes in plant genome.

PlantTandemDups embedded Browse, Search and BLAST functions, which can help users to get interested information of tandem gene duplication in target plant genomes. Except, users can employ PTGDweb to investigate tandem gene duplication or identify tandemly duplicated genes in target genomic regions or chromosomes that not collected in PlantTandemDups, just supplying BLAST result and GFF files. All data for tandem gene duplication in this database are freely available and will be updated regularly with new available plant genomes.
